East is where the ground stops being flat. Magill Road climbing toward the foothills, the Norton Summit turn off and the streets behind Burnside all involve stopping on a gradient and moving off again without rolling back, which is a skill you cannot practise on a flat street.

Portrush Road is the spine and it is genuinely demanding: multiple lanes, heavy traffic most of the day, and right turns across it that require a proper gap rather than an optimistic one. We use it deliberately once a learner is ready.

The Parade at Norwood adds parked cars on both sides, pedestrians stepping out between them, and the box in and box out judgement that decides who gives way on a narrowed street. Campbelltown and Magill fill in the residential practice between.
