Diverging on narrow streets and side streets
Also called diverging. On tight streets with parked cars, aim the centre of your car at the centre of the gap, not at the kerb.
Line the middle of your car up with the middle of the space, then hold it steady.
- Look far ahead, not down at the kerb. Your hands follow your eyes.
- Go slow and steer smoothly. Small corrections, not big ones.
- Judge the gap by centring the car, not by staring at one side.
- If two cars cannot fit, the side with the parked cars usually gives way. Wait in a clear gap.
